Instructions for installing LockDown Browser

LockDown Browser Use

Once installed to your computer, double-click the icon to launch the browser from your desktop.

Note: Mac users must launch "LockDown Browser" from the Applications folder.

The screen will say...Loading...Please Wait.

You will then be advised to close all open programs or apps. You will be given the choice of doing it manually or letting LockDown Browser do it. (It's best to just let the browser do it.)

You cannot navigate away from the page by entering a different URL.

You cannot minimize or resize the screen in any way.

There is no Start Menu, System Tray, or docked access.

You cannot right-click to print.

You cannot use keyboard shortcuts (e.g., Ctrl + C to Copy, Ctrl + V to Paste, Ctrl + P to Print)

No Command keys, Function keys or right-click mouse options.

Second monitors are BLOCKED and all they will display is a blue screen.

Pulling up LockDown Browser for Blackboard

Here, you can click the course where the assessment is to be taken.

Now, click the actual assessment.

Details of the assessment are provided. You can only take the assessment up to the number of times allowed by the instructor.

This is simple a sample assessment as it appears in LockDown Browser.

Depending on your course, your instructor may have enabled access to a built-in calculator.

You should also see a running timer of how long you have been in the assessment.

Finally, the student can submit their assessment.
